Zeta Tau Alpha installed Lambda Lambda Chapter, the 249th link in our Chain of Chapters, on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Kennesaw State University.
The colony’s new members were initiated Friday evening, Nov. 7, at Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta. Teams from Gamma Pi Chapter (The University of Georgia), Iota Theta Chapter (Georgia Institute of Technology), Delta Lambda Chapter (Georgia State University) and Kappa Chi Chapter (Shorter University) conducted the services. ZTA National President Carolyn Hof Carpenter was in attendance on Saturday morning for the initiation of Lambda Lambda Chapter President Elena Garza.
Following the Installation of the Chapter Service on Saturday morning, a celebratory luncheon was held at the Cobb Galleria Centre for new members, family, friends, alumnae and university guests. Lambda Lambda General Advisor Sara Dowless Herndon and Program Council Advisor Laura Bugg Chastain served as Installation banquet chairmen while Marlene Dunbar Conrad, Extension Director, was toastmistress of the event. Prior to lunch, Traveling Leadership Consultant Hannah Schneider gave the invocation, and Lambda Lambda Chapter Music Chairmen Chelsea Brown and Shannan O’Dowd led guests in singing the “Zeta Prayer.”
Following lunch, Director of New Chapters Kaci Holloway Johnson, Mrs. Conrad and Mrs. Carpenter addressed the audience. Elena also added some remarks to inspire her new sisters. “We have been given the opportunity to grow as women and enrich our lives with long lasting friendships and the bond of sisterhood,” she said. “I know with such an amazing group of women we’ll accomplish truly great things.” Province Presidents Laura Moak Redman (VII-A), Lori Dixon Bunn (VII-B) and Kristen Peterson (VII-G) presented the chapter with a ritual trunk. District President VII-A Kery Reinkemyer Webb presented ritual garment bags and supplies on behalf of District VII-A alumnae.
Mrs. Carpenter and Mrs. Conrad presented the chapter with a silver tray and punch bowl from the Fraternity while TLCs Tessa Burke, Kayla Kaczmarek, Morgan Momcilovich and Hannah Schneider gifted Lambda Lambda with the traditional silver baby cup, symbolic of ZTA’s newest chapter. DNCH Kaci also presented Elena with the President’s gavel.Other gifts included an engraved plaque listing all chapters in Georgia with their Installation dates and a silver tray from all National Officers in Georgia.
