Committed to a cause

Zeta Tau Alpha’s national philanthropy is breast cancer education and awareness. One in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, so this cause is personal. Breast cancer touches many lives.

Through local and national partnerships, campus and community initiatives, and the distribution of millions of pink ribbons since 1992, ZTA collegiate and alumnae members are dedicated to our philanthropy. By spreading the message of breast cancer education and awareness, ZTA sisters are determined to diminish this disease.

Zeta Tau Alpha’s national philanthropy is breast cancer education and awareness. We’ve been thinking pink for more than 25 years. The fight against breast cancer is more than a ribbon. It’s our mission.

Think Pink® is a registered trademark of Zeta Tau Alpha. Since 2004, this term has represented the overall theme for our breast cancer education and awareness efforts. ZTA members have distributed almost 25 million ZTA Think Pink ribbons to generate breast cancer awareness, to support breast cancer survivors and to honor those who have lost their lives to the disease.

Through its partnership with the American Cancer Society®, ZTA is the National Survivor Ambassador of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer®. At the nearly 300 Making Strides walks held in communities across the country, Zetas provide assistance with survivor recognition.

As the official fan outreach partner of the National Football League, Zeta Tau Alpha alumnae and collegiate members have worked with all 32 NFL teams to spread the message of breast cancer awareness to almost 10 million football fans across the country. See this season's confirmed Crucial Catch games.

ZTA partners with Bright Pink®, a national nonprofit organization focused on prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer, to educate our ZTA and campus communities.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Zeta Tau Alpha members coordinate and participate in special events throughout October to increase awareness about early detection and to raise funds for breast cancer education. From survivor recognition activities and Pink Out games on campus to pink lemonade stands and golf tournaments, ZTA collegiate and alumnae chapter members encourage their communities to Think Pink.

Zeta Tau Alpha collegiate and alumnae chapters across the country host Think Pink or Pink Out games with university athletic departments, local high schools and professional teams to raise awareness of breast cancer and educate campus and community members about early detection.

Serving our communities

Each Zeta Tau Alpha collegiate and alumnae chapter supports our national philanthropy, breast cancer education and awareness, and the ZTA Foundation. Each chapter also identifies opportunities to meet community needs through local service projects.

Service is integral of the ZTA experience. The Creed of Zeta Tau Alpha asks members to “think in terms of all mankind and our service in the world.” Zetas serve their communities in a variety of ways, including volunteering at a childcare center or a senior living community, clearing trash from local roads or streams, or walking dogs at an animal shelter. Sisters serve to make a positive difference.
